Charlie’s areas of practice include immigration, business contracts, real estate, and probate.

 

One of Charlie’s areas of practice focuses on the nexus between business and immigration. As an immigrant attorney, Charlie understands the needs and goals of immigrants and nonimmigrants. Applying his understanding of law, business, and the diverse cultural backgrounds of his clients, Charlie has assisted
individuals and businesses in the United States and China with their employment-based petitions. Charlie’s clients include high net worth individuals; individuals with extraordinary abilities in the fields of business, law, science, and arts; and companies of various sizes in a wide range of industries, such as tech, real estate, accounting, legal, hospitality, and nonprofits, among others.

 

Charlie has built up substantial experience in family-based immigration. Charlie has represented family-based immigration clients on a variety of matters, including marriage- and family-based visas, adjustment, extension, or change of status, removal of conditions, and naturalization.

 

Additionally, Charlie has advised and assisted individuals and businesses on compliance with U.S. immigration laws in the constantly changing immigration landscape, including advising and assisting clients on: 

· How to maintain lawful status during exceptional circumstances (such as COVID);

· How to avoid inadmissibility issues and lawful permanent resident application denials due to Communist Party membership, military service, and/or criminal record;

·  How to maintain lawful status in the United States after loss of employment;

·  How to change and/or extend status; and

·  Legal options in the event of a EB-5 regional center and/or
project’s failure.

 

Over the years, Charlie has built up business and real estate practice and is a dependable business and real estate lawyer who represents the best interests of Chinese-speaking entrepreneurs and business owners in the Greater Seattle Area.  Charlie’s experience in business law includes negotiating, drafting, reviewing, and revising: 

· Loan agreements;

· Real estate deeds and real estate excise tax affidavits;

· Lease agreements;

· Business plans;

· Residential and commercial real estate purchase and sale agreements;

· Business or asset purchase and sale agreements; and

· Stock transfer agreements. 


Charlie also has experience in handling probate matters for Chinese-speaking clients relating to their cross-border inheritance and Washington probate issues.  Charlie has helped and advised personal representatives on navigating Washington’s probate process, as well as acted as the personal representative of the estate and assisted the overseas family of deceased Washington residents.
